Fly Fishing Salza is managed by Rudi Heger, one of Europe’s best-known fly fishers and fishery managers. Our mission is to protect the unique character of the Salza River while offering anglers exceptional fly fishing for wild brown trout and grayling in one of Austria’s most beautiful alpine river systems.

Fly Fishing Salza is operated by Rudi Heger, one of Europe’s well respected fly fishing pioneers and a lifelong ambassador of the sport. For decades, Rudi Heger has dedicated his work to protecting wild fish populations, preserving outstanding fisheries, and creating unforgettable experiences for fly anglers from around the world.
As the manager and steward of selected sections of the Salza River and the Bavarian Traun River, our goal is simple: to provide access to one of Austria’s finest trout and grayling fisheries for experienced anglers.
The Salza is famous for its crystal-clear water, healthy populations of trout and grayling, and breathtaking alpine scenery.
Every season, anglers travel here to experience challenging sight fishing, prolific insect hatches, and the unique atmosphere of an extremely beautiful mountain river.
